What is Gallbladder Cancer (Cervical cancer)?

Gallbladder cancer is uncommon and it occurs in gall bladder that stores bile, digestive fluid produced by the liver. It is very difficult to diagnose because it causes no signs or symptoms.

Stages

Stage I

At this stage, the cancer has spread to the inner layers of the gallbladder.

Stage II

In 2nd stage, it gradually invades the outer layer of the gallbladder.

Stage III

In this stage it has grown to invade nearby organs, such as the liver, small intestine or stomach and it may have spread to nearby lymph nodes.

Stage IV

The final stage of cancer includes large tumors of any size that have spread to distant areas of the body.

Treatment

  • Surgery
  • Cholecystectomy: This procedure involves the removal of the gallbladder
  • Radical gallbladder resection: This procedure involves the removal of the gallbladder, a wedge-shaped section of the liver near the gallbladder, the common bile duct, part or all of the ligaments between the liver and intestines.
  • Palliative surgery: This surgery may relieve a blockage of the bile ducts or intestines, or relieve bleeding.
  • Radiation therapy
